The restaurant’s theme of a ‘church potluck’ is cleverly woven into its menu, offering a nostalgic yet upscale twist. It was like sharks circling the water for a few months in 2018 as Charlotte anxiously awaited the opening of the Crunkleton. For many of us, we had no idea why there was almost a frenzied excitement for a restaurant that had a $10 per year membership. The place serves Prohibition-era inspired cocktails and a menu that ranges from its Really Good Burger to an enormous 42 ounce Tomahawk Steak to share with the table.

Originally published in 1984, the novel enjoyed immediate critical acclaim, winning the Before Columbus Foundation's American Book Award in 1985. Now in its 25th year of publication, The House on Mango Street has sold over 2 million copies and is required reading in many middle schools, high schools, and universities across the country. So, what's the big deal here? Having been the residence of the Schindlers and then other creatives, this WeHo hidden gem is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is open to the public Wednesday through Sunday as an architectural center. The only Richard Neutra-designed house that is now open regularly to the public, the Neutra VDL Studio and Residences is a Silver Lake hidden gem that was built by the famed architect in 1932. He ran his practice out of a studio here, and along with his wife Dione, raised three sons in this house, which he designed to demonstrate that Modernist principles could be enjoyed by less affluent clients, while maintaining privacy. Natural light, glass walls, patios and mirrors are hallmarks of the Neutra VDL House. Tours of the property, given by Cal Poly Pomona architecture students, are offered on Saturdays from 11 a.m.

He says a woman's place is rising "with the tortilla star." Alcia does not sleep, however, but studies all night and endures a long commute because "she doesn't want to spend her... Mango Street is a poor neighborhood, but it is not dangerous, and Esperanzaspeaks with contempt of the strangers who are foolish enough to be frightenedwhen they go there, though she feels similar fear when she goes to places thatare strange to her. The novel is composed of 44 interconnected vignettes, of varying lengths, ranging from one or two paragraphs to several pages. The protagonist, Esperanza, narrates these vignettes in first-person present tense.

Esperanza is not only ashamed of her home, but she is also uncomfortable with her outside appearance, which she feels does not convey the true personality hidden insider her. She is very self-conscious about her name, whose mispronunciation by teachers and peers at school sounds very ugly to her ears. Esperanza was named after her great- grandmother, who was tricked into marriage and doomed to a life of sadness afterwards. Esperanza vows that she will not end up like the first Esperanza and so many women do- watching life pass by through the window.

Many of the young people are unruly and unsupervised, like the many childrenof Rose Vargas, while others, like Alicia, have to work hard at domestic choresand study at the same time. The games Esperanza plays with her friends have afluid quality, as they quickly become bored. They might begin by talking aboutthe different words for snow and clouds, and end by calling each other names. As they jump rope, the girls talk about the development of their hips and makeup rhymes on the subject. One day, a woman gives them a bag of old shoes, andthey practice being adults, walking on high heels, but soon grow tired of thisactivity. The novel is made up of a series of vignettes that capture Esperanza'sobservations and experiences, reflecting on themes of identity, gender roles, and the power of words. Esperanza's desire to escape her impoverished communityand the aspiration for a home she can call her own are central motifs, emblematic of her search for identity and a sense of belonging.

Historic residences at the museum include the Hale House, Valley Knudsen House, John Ford House, Perry Mansion and the Octagon House. The buildings serve as a perfect background to educate the public about the everyday lives of Southern Californians from the Civil War to the early 20th Century. Guided tours of the museum are supplemented by living history performances, educational programs, hands-on training, exhibitions and special events. Esperanza Cordero is one of the most likable characters you'll ever meet. She's smart, she's funny, she's lonely, and charmingly awkward – she's just like you. But who hasn't ever felt ashamed about some part of their identity, whether it's the amount of money their family has, the house they live in, or just being different from the other kids at school?

During the day, sheteaches at a school in Pilsen, on the South Side of Chicago. Her students havedifficult lives, enduring poverty and violence, and this makes her realize howprivileged her own existence has been. It also leads her sometimes to questionthe value of art, as she wonders what impact literature can have on the livesof these students. As the novel progresses, Esperanza starts to notice her budding sexuality. She is excited when boys on the street or at a dance look at her; however, two instances of sexual violence destroy Esperanza's illusions of true love and her first kiss.

Sally marries young, and Esperanza is confirmed in her view that thisis a mistake when her husband proves to be jealous and controlling, refusing toallow Sally to entertain her friends, talk on the telephone, or even look outof the window of their house. The house itself plays a very important part, especially in how the narrator reacts to it. She is fully aware that she does not belong there, everything about it is described in negative terms delineating everything that it isn't versus what it is. It's by knowing where she doesn't fit that she knows to where she might fit.[58] It is similar to the concept of light and dark. We know that darkness is the absence of light, in this case her identity exists outside of this house on mango street.

She describes time spent with her younger sister, Nenny, and two older girls she befriends in the neighborhood; Alicia, a promising young college student with a dead mother, and Marin, who spends her days babysitting her younger cousins. Esperanza highlights significant or telling moments both in her own life and those in her community, mostly explaining the hardships they face, such as her neighbor being arrested for stealing a car or the death of her Aunt Lupe. The author begins by describing a photograph of herself taken when she wasliving in the Bucktown neighborhood of Chicago in 1980, at the time when shewas writing The House on Mango Street. She is in an office which she hasfilled with bookcases, birdcages, wicker baskets, photographs, and numerousother objects which she often buys at a nearby flea market. She enjoys beingalone in this room, where she can be quiet and think.

Known as the "Father of the Port of Los Angeles," Phineas Banning built this historic residence in 1864, several years after he founded the town of Wilmington. The 23-room Banning House is widely regarded as the finest example of domestic Greek Revival architecture in Southern California. The house interiors have been carefully restored to their original Victorian beauty - 18 rooms are open to the public. The Banning House was designated a California Historical Landmark in 1935, Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument No. 25 in 1963, and added to the National Register of Historic Places in May 1971.

At 9th Street, it merges with Spring Street in Downtown LA, and between Cesar E. Chavez Avenue and 9th Street, Main Street shares a one-way couplet with Spring Street. In this collection of vignettes, Esperanza charts her transition from child to young woman. She is growing up in a small house in urban Chicago, surrounded by other children of mostly Mexican American families. She navigates the shame of being poor at her Catholic school, feeling suffocated by sharing a tiny space with her parents and siblings, and the difficulties of developing sexual awareness and losing the innocence of childhood. She uses writing to help her process her feelings and experiences.

So too, her promiscuous friend Sally's behavior also contributes to Esperanza's cynicism and caution when dealing with the opposite sex. Nevertheless, Esperanza still dreams of sitting outside at night with her boyfriend, but she has set her standards higher than most of the women around her. She refuses to seek out a man to "escape," because she has seen too many neighbors unhappy in marriage. Ruthie, for example, has run away from her husband and has lost her senses; young Rafaela is so beautiful that her husband locks her indoors when he leaves. The tragedy which hits Esperanza the hardest though, is that of Sally. Her friend, who, like Esperanza only wanted to dream and share love, is first beaten by her father to prevent Sally ruining the family with her "dangerous" beauty.

The Pico House is listed as a California Historical Landmark (No. 159). Main Street continues south through South Los Angeles and enters Carson 2 miles (3.2 km) north at the intersection of Lomita Boulevard. In Wilmington Main Street moniker ends, the street continuing on as Wilmington Boulevard. One Saturday evening, the woman in the photograph attends a literary soiree, where she feels ill at ease among more successful and established writers. Shemeets a famous writer, who offers her a lift home in his sports car. Instead ofreturning home, however, she goes to the cinema and watches Gentlemen PreferBlondes by herself.

If you've been here, you know that most of the cubicles have blank tan walls, but a couple small sections have wood trim on them, right? And you know which one I mean by "the big one." First, go there. It shouldn't be too hard to find, but you can get to it quickly by going forward and left from the starting position. This post is even more spoilery than the previous one. My suggestion is, don't read my previous post until you've played through once, and don't read this one until you've played through twice and found all you can. Found some more stuff, including an area not reached in the previous playthrough.

About This File

There's a panel in the abstract brutalist section that requires the blue keycard. This is the only one of the six keys I never found, so I have no idea what's there. Last August I lost a good childhood friend of mine and took it pretty hard. When I was visiting my hometown for his funeral, I connected with his parents who shared with me some of his old belongings. Among them was a copy of an old map of his backed up on a 3.5” floppy from high school.

Doom creator John Romero finally plays its most mind-blowing mod

Given the adaptation curse that no one can deny, it’d be no surprise if a Doom 2 mod inspired by a novel would result in the ultimate failure. The journal details a programmer falling into madness. The creator takes on this project in memory of a friend. Six months later, they’ve completed it, but essentially lost their mind, chronicling intense nightmares (which serve as a guide for how the gamer can proceed). Something is haunting this game’s creator, forcing them to finish MyHouse, and you won’t know why until you complete the game yourself.

Doom At 30: MyHouse.wad is an extraordinary mod that asks, "What if Doom was an ultra creepy horror game?"

In the original Legend Of Zelda, for example, it's the manual that gives you the only clues you will get from the game to defeat Ganon. Similarly, without MyHouse’s journal, you will miss clues, and the story context for how this WAD was made. Outside of an occasional monster popping up behind you, Doom was never really a horror game. It was a shooter with post-grunge, pre-nu metal intensity. The excellent Doom reboots, with their renewed focus on violent mayhem, demonstrate this very clearly.

Thomas and I were into amateur Doom mapping in the early 00s but I had never seen this map of his prior to uncovering it on one of the old floppy discs. As a way of paying tribute to him and all the great memories we had together, I took the plunge and installed Doom Builder in order to polish up his map and add a few modern amenities just for convenience sake. Use our state-of-the-art property search, including an interactive map search, to find homes for sale in Los Angeles, CA. Greg and I have been friends since high school, and occasionally we’ll stop texting each other “Webster” references long enough to speak via phone.

The map explores themes of isolation, nostalgia, grief, mental unrest, childhood trauma and existential horror. In terms of its various approaches to architecture, it seems to take direct inspiration from Internet creepypastas and the concept of liminal spaces to provoke unsettling feelings in the player. When playing this map, all cheats are effectively disabled on all difficulties, with the exception of god mode and noclip. A ZDoom MAPINFO lump alters the colors on the automap, changing everything to full black to force the player to navigate without much help from the automap.

Doom’s Myhouse.WAD is one of gaming’s greatest literary adaptations

Deciding to finish and release it as a tribute to his friend, he finds himself growing obsessed with perfecting it, and is plagued by strange nightmares. Soon, he begins blacking out and waking up to find he'd spent the entire period of unconsciousness developing the mod, which seems to be taking a horrifying life of its own. Despite his attempts to stop and simply release the original, unaltered .wad so he can be done with it, the seemingly-haunted .pk3 version of the map nonetheless makes its way into the upload as well... Conversely, My House doesn’t fall for the trappings of trying to retell the events from House Of Leaves in video game format.

From DoomWiki.org

If MyHouse isn’t already an icon of horror gaming, it soon will be. The commentsfollowing the WAD’s drop on the DoomWorld forum is a historical document of gamerscoming to terms with something incredible that they cannot quite comprehend. Finally, you want to download MyHouse.pk3 from the Google Drive folder provided by Veddge and place it, again, in the root of your GZDoom folder. Now all you need to do is drag MyHouse.pk3 onto the GZDoom icon and voila, the game should launch. If the uppercase letters are taken from the CREDITS file, the string SELESTNSOAJYIKHYMMU is obtained.

At this point, more monsters can be seen to have populated the interior of the House. You are now in an "upgraded" version of the House complete with additional decorations and the more obvious use of UDMF features including polyobject doors. Crucially, more areas are now available to you inside. Also shrek can die, he drops the key out of the yard.

my house .wad

According to information posted on Doomworld and later on the mod's website, the author Veddge experienced the loss of a childhood friend in August 2022, named Tom (Thomas Allord). The emotional state that Tom's death provoked in Veddge appears to have had a strong influence on the content that was added to the map. Re-enter the opening in the fence and return to the Gas Station. There is a huge party of monsters waiting for you, complete with a spider mastermind on the roof of the station, so be ready. Many of the monsters will kill each other by infighting.

Head to the right down the far road, and find the bonfire. Pressing use on the tree with the love heart and going through the opening will take you to a beach scene. The colored keys found inside the House have all been replaced with skull key variants. Re-enter it and retrieve all three colored skull keys. Perhaps it is destiny that on Doom's 30th anniversary, a myhouse.wad will be considered for the Cacowards.

MyHouse has a professional level of sound design to rival P.T. Taken all together, this sparkling technical mastery of horror makes you slowly realize something. The map is massive with multiple endings and has been compared more to a piece of art or a sequel in itself than a simple Doom map. It's best to go into the game as blind as possible to avoid spoilers, but there are also plenty of videos on YouTube exploring every nook and cranny of the experience, some with millions of views.

Continue walking to the right from the black tile to reach the platform with the Wedding Ring, artifact number eleven. Approaching the front door causes a new door to suddenly appear on the top floor, next to the door to the master bedroom. This door leads into a sitting room containing a can of Pop you can pick up.

I'm stuck here, and don't know what to do to finish the map. In any case, you're now in Regular House 2 and you have all six keys. This is where you start finding the "artifacts." You get the soda can in the room with the fireplace first. This is a new room that appears in this reality after you have the blue skull. If you close the door and open it, the hallway will be gone and it's just a closet again. By leaving the room and coming back, I sometimes managed to make the hallway reappear and sometimes didn't.

At first it seems like a typical My House WAD with a lot of Doom cute details, but it evolves into something so much more amazing. It's one of the most emotional & haunting maps I've ever played. I just had a feeling of melancholy as I progressed through the map interspaced with moments of true terror as the horror elements ramped up.

The Bauhaus room contains the Milkshake, the second artifact. We're already on the trail of the artifacts, so let's leave that aside for now. Up in the attic where you got the blue key, there's a mirror covered by a cloth.

Roy Cooper clarified that the other two killed were officers with the State Department of Adult Correction who were working with the task force. Also continuing from where @Not Jabba left off, I found a bit more details but not anything too groundbreaking. This is noticeable when you beat the first level and go into Underhalls, everything feels extremely small. Also, Doom Launcher lists this .pk3 as having 33 total maps. I haven't noticed anything changed with Underhalls besides the map feeling small. I don't believe it's possible to get the Soulsphere fairly, since it's clearly intended as a red herring to pull you outside.

Even though he played for an hour, Romero didn't manage to chew through MyHouse.wad's entire maze of secrets. The mod features a sprawl of alternate paths and secret doors, and one was so tricky it even took Doomworld's users tons of collaboration to figure out. Its creator, Veddge, had never put anythingup in the community and had barely been active for the past 15 years.

This is the first of sixteen "artifacts" you will find. Icons denoting eight of these artifacts will appear on hanging pictures in the House's living room as the artifacts are found. Upon picking up the Pop, another door to a new room in a black-and-white Bauhaus architecture style will suddenly appear just opposite.

Once downloaded, unzip the contents into a folder somewhere on your computer. The map's giant concrete labyrinth appears to be directly inspired by House of Leaves, a documentary novel by Mark Z. Danielewski about an endless, constantly-changing labyrinth inside a family's home. The sign that appears in the empty lot after the House disappears says "Navidson Realty - For Sale". In the novel, Navidson is the name given to the family who own the house. There appear to be six levels to the staircase that endlessly loop on themselves. Traveling up the stairs takes you to various exit doors which all have different behaviors.

You'll need to jump into the bathtub in the regular-sized version of the House and open a wall panel to reveal a small tunnel leading to a metal electrical panel. Opening this reveals a looping underground parking lot which leads into the Airport lounge. Upon return to the House, head upstairs and jump into the filled bathtub.

John and Ruth Sowden, for which the house was originally built, were artsy Hollywood folks who liked to party. Therefore, Lloyd Wright, who had been designing sets for Paramount Studios at the time, indulged their desire for the theatrical. Designed in 1926 by renowned architect, Lloyd Wright, the Sowden House is a meticulously renovated 6,000 square-foot neo-Mayan mansion in the heart of modern Hollywood.

You enter a house built for a friend, and by the end you fully understand what that means. There’s a section of MyHouse's journal where the game’s creator wakes up to find that the game itself has split into two files, a WAD and a PK3. To properly run MyHouse, you must drag the .PK3 file onto your executable file. To play MyHouse, you must consent to your own haunting. So for something like MyHouse to exist is almost impossible. This is the part where we find the electrical panel in the basement behind the slightly ajar bookshelf, which takes us to Ruined House 1.

The music here is great, from the slightly edited version of d_runnin that gives off the first hints that something is amiss to the fully ambient track of the brutalist sections of the map. My only gripe is that the progression was a little bit confusing at times, jumping into the bathtub was the biggest roadblock for me. Overall though I got to say that this is a must play wad & it will certainly be in my top 10 list at the end of 2023. By the end of the brutalist section, you should have eight of the known artifacts, with two more to go in the airport bathroom.

Don't know where this key is but I'll update in a new edit when I do. So, now we're in the brutalist sections...but we have the blue keycard this time. The locked vent opens a small closet with a plasma rifle and a decent cache of ammo and health (but doesn't seem to offer any deeper answers than that). I also found an additional (tenth) artifact this time.

Find the exact section of the fencing outside that the painting describes - it's some distance to the right of the soulsphere pedestal - and press use. The passage that you reveal will take you to a long dark road - take note that you emerge next to a piece of wooden fence. You'll need to follow the road down towards a crashed car. Follow the path down to the Gas Station indicated by the car's headlights.

Doom was scary in the same way a Megadeth poster was scary, but MyHouse reimagines Doom’s legacy as a horror game. The pervasive atmosphere of dread in this MyHouse will not allow you a moment’s rest, and the language of shooters will not help you. Whether or not you have played Doom (and you really should, it can be played onpotatoes), you know Doom. You’ve seen the Marine in the green helmet shootingdemons. The sound of the shotgun and thegrunt of creatures being mowed down by a gatling gun lives in our subconscious.MyHouse warps these memories. In MyHouse you run into creatures that do not exist in Doom — that don’t, as far as I’m aware, exist in any other WAD.

I don't know exactly what triggers it or if you can lose it forever. Harvey's history with games started when he first begged his parents for a World of Warcraft subscription aged 12, though he's since been cursed with Final Fantasy 14-brain and a huge crush on G'raha Tia. He made his start as a freelancer, writing for websites like Techradar, The Escapist, Dicebreaker, The Gamer, Into the Spine—and of course, PC Gamer. He'll sink his teeth into anything that looks interesting, though he has a soft spot for RPGs, soulslikes, roguelikes, deckbuilders, MMOs, and weird indie titles. He also plays a shelf load of TTRPGs in his offline time. Don't ask him what his favourite system is, he has too many.

According to Veddge, their friend had recently passed away, and at their house he discovered a series of floppy disks that the pair had worked on together when they were kids. They were early levels for Doom, and to honor his friend’s memory, Veddge decided to rebuild these levels and post them. Doom II fans are eating well right now after discovering an impressively made, creepypasta-like map called MyHouse.Wad. The map is being celebrated across social media through Let's Plays, fan art and memes as players discover all the secrets hidden within it.

In House Of Leaves the protagonist is similarly haunted, forced to translate a work that is documenting a movie about a haunted house that does not exist. MyHouse was so affecting, that I went out and read House Of Leaves to better come to grips with what I had played. The center dark square at the bottom of the pool is actually a disguised tunnel leading to a cloud-filled area. Swim through this tunnel quickly before you start to drown. In the cloud area, step on the black floating tile to trigger an ambush of Hemodemons.

This will help to remove the odor from the carpets and make them smell fresh and clean. Fabric tends to hold onto the smoke smell, so you’ll probably need to clean all the window treatments. Depending on the fabric, some can be washed in the washing machine, while others have to be steam cleaned.

Should You Buy a Smoker's House? How to Get Rid of the Smell

how do you get cigarette smoke out of a house

Homes that have been smoked in often have a lingering cigarette smell, sometimes referred to as thirdhand smoke, that has to be professionally removed. Walls and other materials in the home may also take on a brown or yellowish tint due to being coated in tobacco residue. It’s important to note that exposure to thirdhand smoke can be toxic to both people and pets. We hope this guide was helpful in getting your house ready to sell.

White House’s Further Delay of Rule to End Menthol Cigarettes Will Mean More Deaths

Here are some easy ways to purify and freshen your home’s air to keep the tobacco smell from accumulating. Fill a bucket or container with a gallon of hot water and add white vinegar. Dunk the sponge into the cleaning liquid, wring it out to ensure it is damp and not drenched, and wipe the entire wall surface. Reapply the cleaner to the sponge while cleaning and let the walls air dry. The simplest way to get rid of cigarette smoke odor is to use an air freshener, and there are many freshening scents on the market, from floral to fruity. However, we find that an air freshener with the freshest scent works best.

Cleaning Smoke-Stained Items

Similar to fire smoke, cigarette smoke can permeate the HVAC system, requiring thorough cleaning and maintenance. Inspect ductwork for nicotine residue and perform deep cleaning on vents and registers to eliminate trapped smoke particles. The carbon molecules in charcoal chemically “trap” smells, clearing them from the air. While grilling briquettes can be used in a pinch, activated charcoal is processed for better porosity and absorption power (and isn’t treated with flammable chemicals). Most home improvement centers carry a range of activated charcoal products that are marketed as smoke or odor eliminators.

Best Way to Get Cigarette Smoke Smell Out of A House

Placing bowls of activated charcoal around the home and simmering vinegar on the stove are other methods for getting rid of odors in the house. Some homes are more severely affected by smoke damage than others. A cigarette smoke smell clings to walls, floors, and furniture, which is particularly annoying if you’re not a smoker.

Remove Smoke Smell from Carpets and Rugs

Depending on the source of the odor, you’ll probably need to employ several of the solutions below to remove all the smoke smells from your home or car. The toxic particles in cigarette smoke will stick to walls and ceilings. In most cases, the residue can be removed only with professional cleaning services that use specialized equipment and robust cleaning agents. If you’re still not able to remove all the smoke smell you can always hire restoration specialists to do a deep cleaning of your house with specialized equipment. They’ll start with a thorough cleaning of the home then use deodorizing agents and hydroxyl or ozone generators to destroy the smelly particles. But, if you’re selling your house, it’s important to make sure that it’s completely free of any smoke smell.

To stop those smoke particles from sticking to surfaces around the home, it’s a good idea to only smoke outside. The limitation to this is that thirdhand smoke can stick to your clothing. This means that while smoking outside of the house helps a lot, it might not completely get rid of some sources of the tobacco smell. But if you start adopting these three habits, you’ll notice a difference. Nothing seems to get into the house and linger quite so much like the smell of smoke.

Nothing screams “a smoker lived here” more than trying to cover up the cigarette smell with an overpowering candle and some air freshener. A potential tenant will smell right through it and raise a red flag. Unfortunately, though, if you have extreme smoke smells, it may not work.

Step 2: Remove Ash

More than 11% of U.S. adults smoke, with rates roughly even between white and Black people. But about 80% of Black smokers smoke menthol, which the FDA says masks the harshness of smoking, making it easier to start and harder to quit. Whether you need to sell a house in poor condition or one with a strong cigarette smell, we can help.

Grab a big bag of baking soda and sprinkle it on carpets, rugs, upholstery, and any other soft fabric that isn’t machine washable. Wipe down all surfaces with a mixture of warm water and mild detergent to remove nicotine residue. Pay special attention to corners, walls, ceilings and windows, which tend to accumulate a high concentration of smoke particles.

We recommend keeping the windows open for as long as possible, ideally a full day. While smoke can be a lingering and pesky smell to remove, there are definitely ways you can say goodbye to it once and for all. Use the upholstery brush and crevice tool to vacuum away the baking soda.

THS residue exposure can be especially dangerous for pets and small children, who often pick up dust and particulate matter on their hands or paws, and then put them in their mouth. There are cases when the smell can linger or return even after thorough cleaning. It may be necessary to seal and paint the walls, cabinets, and ceilings. You can also use a steam cleaner to try and cleanse these items. If you don’t have one, they are available for rent at Home Depot and Lowe’s.

Read reviews, compare your options, and schedule online in minutes. If an air purifier doesn’t seem to work, you can invest in an ozone generator instead. Even though it sounds pretty complex, an ozone generator is quite a nifty machine. In a way, this generator also purifies the air but by oxidizing it and not direct circulation.

Again, if the smoke concentration is high, the freshener will create a new weird smell. Furthermore, all that fumes are not that good for the human lungs. Cigarette smoke coats the inside of your mouth, gums, teeth, and tongue.

reviews of Everlasting Kiss, a Charlotte Tilbury Superstar Lips

charlotte tilbury everlasting kiss

I just got Crystal HappiKiss, I thought the other colours looked too pigmented for a balm type product. The Tarte Maricuja Juicy Lip is an exact dupe for this very shiny thick balm. I can’t remember what they cost, but the are deffo cheaper. The have loads more colours, and all of them are sheer.

Charlotte Tilbury HOLLYWOOD BEAUTY ICON LIPSTICK K.I.S.S.I.N.G - CANDY CHIC

The formulas in this palette itself are much better in pigment and color payoff significantly compared to the first ones she launched. It’s still a very natural looking but I think colors are deep enough for even medium tan skin tones. It’s neutral in undertone to me making it a lot more wearable than her previous Beauty Glow Palette from 2017. Colors are soft but buildable, I think with the texture it’s easy to blend and impossible to overdo. It didn’t have as much slip as I would have thought, but this helped it sit better on my lips and have better longevity. It had rich color coverage that adhered somewhat evenly to my lips and seemed to fill in a few of my lip lines but didn’t smooth them all out.

It's very wet and never drys so its messy and bleeds on me. As an example, one rating criteria for lipsticks is luster. Matte might be a desired quality for you, while glossy might be desired for someone else. Without the need for long-form written text, everyone saves time. Don’t let us discourage you from waxing poetic if you are so inclined, some people are gifted writers and should share if they want to.

Mac Retro Matte Lipstick RUBY WOO #707 - Size 0.10 Oz. / 3 g

Worth noting, the packaging used thinner plastic and was much lighter-weight (to the point of feeling a little flimsy) compared to other Charlotte Tilbury lip products. It also has a clicking, twist-up mechanism that doesn't lalow for the product to be twist back into the tube, so take care when twisting product out for use. I'm guessing that the more balm-like formula needed that type of mechanism in order not to break at the base. Overall lots to love for easy everyday kind of makeup.

Reviews for

Whether the product looked smoothing depended on the shade as some were more flattering to wear than others. The formula had a subtle, sweet vanilla scent but no discernible taste. Charlotte Tilbury Coral Kiss Kissing Lipstick (£23.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a brightened, medium coral-pink with a satin finish.

This format gives reviewers a way to provide an in-depth review of the same specific aspects of a product, allowing you zero in on the criteria that are most important to you. Charlotte Tilbury Happipetal Hyaluronic Happikiss Colour Balm ($34.00 for 0.08 oz.) is a bright, medium-dark orange-coral with strong, warm undertones and a high-shine, glossy cream finish. The texture was thicker, slightly denser, and this resulted in a heavier look that was easy to over-apply.

It wore well for three hours and felt hydrating over time. Charlotte Tilbury Enchanting Kiss Hyaluronic Happikiss Colour Balm ($34.00 for 0.08 oz.) is a brighter, medium pink-coral with moderate, warm undertones and a high-shine, glossy finish. It had semi-opaque color coverage, which was slightly more coverage than marketed, that applied somewhat evenly. The Kissing formula is supposed to be pigmented and luminous, while also being hydrating. It has a creamier, lightweight consistency that's comfortable to wear and to apply with a moderately hydrating formula to back it.

Velvet Underground Kissing Lipstick (£23.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a bold, brightened fuchsia pink with cool, blue undertones and a satin finish. It was incredibly pigmented, and it applied and wore beautifully for a solid six and a half hours, plus it left behind a stain that lingered for a couple more hours. It was neither drying nor hydrating while worn; it seemed slightly moisturizing initially but at the four-hour mark, it just seemed neither drying nor hydrating. The Charlotte Tilbury Gorgeous, Glowing Beauty Instant Look in a Palette is such a pretty easy to wear palette I think it should be permanent!

Charlotte Tilbury LOOK OF LOVE LIPSTICKS REFILL - FIRST DANCE

I think every color in the Gorgeous Glowing Beauty palette is wearable and great for the more conservative beauty lover or for those who feel like they don’t know how to wear makeup. It’s truly easy to wear with easy to follow steps for a full face look and I do think it’s beautiful! At $75 it is fairly spendy, I bought mine during the Sephora Holiday bonus event for some savings. When I previewed shopping the palette in store a lot of you asked how it compares to The Dolce Vita quad (now renamed The Bella Sofia), swatches below. There are definitely similarities in two of the shades, I find the individual quad has more color payoff on the eyes.

We just want to encourage and provide great reviews without that particular barrier to entry. She has normal-to-dry skin with occasional dryness on cheeks and nose. She has a light plus skintone with subtle, warmer yellow undertones (view her foundation matches here). An added benefit to the scales is quickly seeing how a product might perform. You can identify that a product is rated highly for luster without reading a lot of text. Easily compare and evaluate similar products based on identical criteria.

We build the best ships, and even better careers, all while doing the right thing

It turns out it's a great place to get some work done. The ship's riff on Broadway-approved "Wizard of Oz" — 16-piece live orchestra and flying bed included — delighted me, a hater of most musicals. While I would've preferred a quieter atmosphere (the DJ did not, in fact, play smooth jazz), the pool's views, day beds, and lack of screaming children were hard to beat. I spent my time there perched at one of its in-water loungers, contently splashing my legs around the water, wondering if I actually hated cruises. If you're a frequent cruiser — especially with Royal Caribbean — amenities like the mini-golf course and water playground may not seem exciting.

Hiring Partners

Depending on your location and the ship’s location, you may fly to the nearest airport. In some cases, this will be at the crew members’ expense for the first contract. The company covers the cost of repatriation after your contract is concluded as long as you satisfy the basic requirements of your assignment.

When off duty, employees are allowed to smoke in the designated smoking areas. How long would I be onboard before going back home? A contract ranges anywhere from three to approximately eight months, depending on the position. Most senior management roles have 4-month contracts while most of the rest of the positions have 6-8 month contracts. Employees live onboard for the total length of their contracts.

A C1-D visa is a non-immigrant visa issued by US embassies around the world. This visa allows crew members to transit through US ports. If offered a position, Royal Caribbean Group will provide a letter to support your application. This visa is not required for Canadians or US citizens or residents. Only the Partners listed here are authorized to provide recruitment and placement services for any of the brands operated by Royal Caribbean Group. They have been certified to meet company and MLC 2006 guidelines.

If specific tools are required to perform my job, do I need to bring them? No, all the tools you need to perform your job will be provided by the company. As you go through the application process, our recruiters and hiring partners will be glad to provide guidance, and more relevant details to answer any additional questions about shipboard life.

Should employees become ill while onboard, each ship has a team of dedicated medical professionals that will provide assistance at no cost to the crew member. However, while the medical team is ready to assist in any urgent situation, they shouldn’t be considered your primary medical care provider. It is important to join the ship healthy and ready to work.

Those listed as “Authorized Referral Sources” are partners that are authorized to refer interested applicants or resumes to the company. The services they provide are limited and therefore are not considered a full-service hiring partner. Embark on a journey with Celebrity Cruises and meet our exceptional team members who bring culinary excellence to the high seas. For a full list of the measures enforced on board our ships, visit /the-healthy-sail-center.

Yes, there are laundry facilities available for the crew. In case of family emergencies, your HR manager will work closely with you to make necessary arrangements. If you received a solicitation from a company that is not listed on our site, please report it to [email protected].

Personal Navigators: Disney Wish 4-Night Bahamian Cruise from Port Canaveral February 19, 2024

You’ll be able to have your choice of room type and location and will lock in the opening day price. If later on you decide to change rooms on the same sailing, Disney will give you the opening day price on the new room, even if the price has gone up in the intervening days or months. The people who book earliest almost always get the lowest possible price. Sometimes there will be last-minute deals via the restricted guarantee fares or Florida Resident fares, but only a small percentage of cruises ever have those fares, and those fares aren’t always cheaper than opening day fares. In addition, early bookers get first dibs on staterooms, making it the best way to land one of the hardest-to-get staterooms like the Secret Porthole and Secret Verandah rooms. Lots of people know about these advantages, so on the days the new itineraries become available for booking, both the phone lines and website get slammed.

The Animator's Palate has screens showing animated Disney characters and themes from "Finding Nemo" movie. The Enchanted Garden is a Versailles-inspired room, featuring lighting effects, transforming the day into night. The Royal Palace is princesses-themed with numerous portraits of "Cinderella" and the "Sleeping Beauty" movie characters (even the bread baskets are shaped like Cinderella's coach). The food quality is very good, the service staff is amicable and timely.

The new Castaway Club early booking benefit for Pearl members is NOT part of this release. In the rare event that the ship visits Castaway Cay or Lighthouse Point two days in a row, the ship will not stay docked overnight. It will leave the island at the usual time on the first day and come back the next morning. The Disney Magic will have two limited-time engagements in Galveston in early 2024. After ringing in the New Year from the Lonestar State, the ship will embark on Caribbean adventures ranging in length from four to six nights through the end of January.

The Eastern Caribbean cruises are January 6, 20; February 3, 17 and March 2. Castaway Cay, Disney’s private island, will be transformed with “snow” flurries, a Christmas tree and more. Be on the lookout for Mr. and Mrs. Snowman, dressed in their island attire. Plus, the island’s tram is decorated to resemble a reindeer, complete with antlers and a tail. In the past there has been a special menu on Thanksgiving Day, and pictures with Pilgrim Mickey and Minnie.

Adventure by Disney Pre- and Post-Cruise Escape Packages take place before and after select Disney Cruise Line sailings. These 2- to 3-night Escapes include 2 Adventure by Disney guides; hotel accommodations; multiple, daily excursions; special VIP privileges; all transportation during the trip and a photo CD with all the Adventure by Disney guide photos. Whether the DVC member cruise is worth booking is a personal judgment call. The extra events are difficult or impossible to experience any other way.

In late-April 2021, DCL released the first video of the "Designing the Disney Wish" series themed on the ship's design, Disney characters and special features. The hull design features Captain Minnie Mouse (bow character) and the sculpture of Rapunzel (aft/at the stern). The liner's interior is designed using three classic Disney themes - fairytale castles (including for the Atrium's Grand Hall), forests and animals, and the spirit of the sea.

During this period there will be special Halloween events onboard, including Halloween-themed parties, storytellings, movies and elaborate décor, including The Pumpkin Tree, which magically transforms throughout the cruise. You will also find characters dressed in Halloween costumes, as well as a costume party for families and, just for adults, a costume contest and a Villainous Takeover on the dance floor in the nighttime entertainment district. All sailings from Florida will include a stop at Castaway Cay, a picturesque private island oasis reserved exclusively for Disney Cruise Line guests. Located in the turquoise waters of the Bahamas, Castaway Cay provides the ultimate escape with something for everyone, including adventure, relaxation and quality time with the family.

In the past there has not been any special menu for Halloween night itself, over and above what they do on all the Halloween themed cruises during the whole period, but there will be some special Halloween-themed treats. After returning from its inaugural season in Australia and New Zealand, the Disney Wonder will arrive in San Diego, California in March 2024 for three- to seven-night voyages to Mexico, including the Baja peninsula. The Disney Dream will continue to homeport Fort Lauderdale, which Disney Cruise Line’s 2nd permanent year round Florida port.

For those looking for Fall 2024 dates, we anticipate the next release to occur sometime in in May but as late as July based on the historical itinerary release cycle. While Summer 2024 dates were announced today, general booking will not open until Thursday March 30th. The tiered booking period will begin March 27th for Castaway Club Members and some others.

Sailings for Winter 2024 (October through December, and a few early 2025 itineraries) were announced on June 13, 2023. They went on sale for Pearl Castaway Club members on June 19,  Platinum Castaway Club members on June 20, Gold members on June 21, Silver members, Adventures Insiders and DVC members on June 22, and everyone else on June 26. For more details, visit the 2024 Itineraries page of disneycruise.com. The ship then returns to Vancouver to begin the 2024 Alaska Cruise season, which lasts through late September.

Then, we’ll go in-depth for each month so you can see exactly which sail dates are being offered for each itinerary. The Unofficial Guide is not a brochure for Disney Cruise Line, the guide is set up as a no-nonsense, consumer orientated planning guide based on the authors’ personal cruise experience as fare paying guests. The information and suggestions are what you’d expect to hear from a close friend or family member, not a salesperson. The Unofficial Guide to the Disney Cruise Line for 2024 is now available with updated information on what cruisers may need to know in order to plan for an upcoming Disney Cruise. The 2024 edition sails in with updates and new information including a significant expanded coverage on the Disney Wish as well as the Disney Treasure.
